How Can severe Red Bruises On The Back Be Treated?

My daughter fell 15 feet onto water in the back of her thigh and has a long white strip (likely a pressure sore?) that has redness on the margins. There is also a lot of bruising around the area but not in the white strip of skin where she had impact with the water. What should we do?

Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.
Bruises are nothing but collection of small amount of blood under the skin following a blunt trauma.Bruises are absolutely harmless condition and most of the bruises resolve itself even without treatment.
There is nothing to worry and she will be fine within few days.
You can do the following as a first line management:
1.Apply ice packs over the affected area on and off for first few days.
2.You can give her simple analgesics like "acetaminophen" or "ibuprofen" for pain and discomfort.
3.Rest the affected area.
4.You can apply topical antibiotics like mupirocin if she has abarasion or skin breaks.
If there is extreme pain and tenderness or swelling kindly consult your family pbysician.

Hope this information helps.
Regards.
